지역주민의 전시컨벤션센터에 대한 장소애착심이 장소정체성에 미치는 영향
본 연구는 전시컨벤션센터와 지역주민 간의 상호관계를 통해 전시컨벤션센터에 대한 지각주체인 지역주민이 형성하는 장소애착심과 장소정체성을 살펴보고, 전시컨벤션센터가 어떠한 장소적 의미를 내재하고 있으며, 지역주민이 전시컨벤션센터와 관련하여 자신을 어떻게 기술하는지를 제시하고자 하였다. 이러한 관점에서 사회심리학과 환경심리학 분야에서 활발히 연구되어 온 장소정체성의 이론과 측정 척도를 전시컨벤션 분야에 적용하여 단순히 물리적 환경으로만 인식되어온 전시컨벤션센터의 본질적인 장소의 의미를 분석하였다. 검증 결과에 따르면, 지역주민의 전시컨벤션센터에 대한 장소애착심은 장소정체성의 세 가지 하위요소인 공유성, 동일성, 독특성 각각에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 지역주민의 전시컨벤션센터 장소애착심이 높은 집단과 낮은 집단 간의 장소정체성은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타나 전시컨벤션센터 장소애착심이 높은 집단은 낮은 집단에 비해 보다 긍정적인 장소정체성을 갖는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 전시컨벤션센터의 운영과 마케팅에 있어 지역주민의 인식을 분석하기 위한 기초적인 자료로 활용될 수 있다고 본다. 또한 전시컨벤션센터가 지속가능한 경쟁적 우위를 차지하고, 안정적인 이미지와 차별화된 장소적 특성을 구축함에 있어 매개체적인 특성을 가지고 있음이 확인된다.
Examining Impacts of Residents' Place Attachment on Place Identity toward the Exhibition and Convention Center
This study was to examine impacts of residents' place attachment on place identity toward a specified exhibition & convention center (KINTEX, Korea International Exhibition Center). Most research on exhibition & convention centers' characteristics have focused on physical and functional attributes. This study, however, examined place attachment and place identity in fields of social psychology and environmental psychology to present intrinsic and essential place characteristics and values of exhibition & convention centers. Thus, the study was to research the cause and effect between residents' place attachment and place identity toward the exhibition and convention center and variances of place identity, depending on residents’ preception level (high vs. low) of place attachment. The study reveals that there is a significant positive relationship between place attachment and three sub-components of place identity (sharing, identification, and distinctiveness); in relation to the perceptional level (high vs. low) of place attachment toward the exhibition & convention center and place identity has significant differences.
